Hey all ive got 41/150 pages scripted. Here is a drawing i did today!!
Its not done but its a thank you image to Mooncalfe he was all nice and encouraging to me and helped me with Claire SO much. Then at a con i had the nerve to ask him for a sketch! XD!!!

I think i have completely forgotten how to draw. Ive been writing so much lately that I have hardly drawn anything. Yesterday I tried drawing lots of people. They all turned out bad.
I am sad. Is it possible to de-rustify ones self if you become rusty at art? |

I'm going for a kind of Kirby thing with her sheilds I think it will look pretty cool when it gets going.
My life has been so boring lately i dont have anything to write about! All ive been doing lately is working out/working on my story. Thank you everyone who helped me with the ideas. I'm using some of them and others just inspired me tremendously. It's always good to get an outside view, it helps me to see things from different angle. You also were all very encouraging.
I keep wishing i could just start DRAWING it already, but its a good idea to know exactly what you are doing first. BUT i'm not being lazy, half of making comics is the writing part right? haha!
I still feel like I'm falling behind other talented artists my age, but I cant worry too much. I just gotta plunge forward and do my best. I want to make comics that people will love, including me! So I'm gonna really put my heart into this. I hope you guys will like what i do. Thanks for being so damn awesome. <3 |

My biggest fear is making a mistake so bad I can't fix it and no one will forgive me. Sort of all tangled up in that is my fear that deep down I'm a bad person. How the heck do you face that? Ah I'm mostly trying not to be so hard on myself and telling myself it's okay to take risks. |

My life has been all sorts of crazy lately.
Work! AAH.
At my job for the past 2 months weve been getting calls for "Julia and Robert, the new owners" When I asked my boss Kamran about this he would get angry and insist he was not selling the business. Last monday, lo and behold there are two people in the office. Signing, a contract. "Let me guess your names." I say. "Julia and Robert?" And yes it was! So my boss sold the business without telling me. Thankfully they are keeping the two employees in the shop (myself and Carlos). Still I am somewhat enraged. For one thing, I have worked here for over a year and was gearing up to ask for a raise. I run over half the shop and deserve one. Now what do I do? Ask the new owners who just paid a ton of money to buy the business for a raise??! Damnit! Also my boss could have raised my and Carlos' pay a little before he left so that would have been sort of a raise. But no. He lied about it and kept it a secret. Now I'm really mad.
CONVENTIONS AND STUFF
SPX was a blast, I got to give out a TON of mini comics, meet some of my favorite creators, some of which I didnt even know would be there! I wasn't even that much of a crazy person this year! I was almost cool! haha. Got to meet Polly. (this is her totally kick ass DA http://kisaru.deviantart.com/) she's Pollums on here. Everyone should look at her art and friend her. She's a cooool lady. Also got to talk to TopShelf a little and at Baltimore con I got to talk to them more! Spoke to Chris Starros. Joy was kicking ass and taking names. Fantagraphics was impressed with her stuff and wanted her to send a submission, oh man baltimore con!

Also fun, much more mainstreamy! Lots of people from the big 2 and looots of old school comic vendors. I got Frankmillars run on Electra from what back in the 80s i think! I will post some scans later.
Oh yeah! So some highlights were things like. Talking to Van Jensen writer of Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer coming out from SLG. He was a really nice guy with some REALLY good advice for the business end of things. I tried to pay really close attention cause he knew what he was talking about and I'm going to keep it all in mind for my pitches!
The DC table was giving out Black Lantern corps rings haha Ive been wearing mine all day. Also LOTS of free comics. I got a big pile. I was sad that at the entire con I only saw ONE Green Arrow shirt, and one black canary shirt and they were the same shirt! BOO!! Those two are my faves! GAH! Also NO Booster Gold stuff at all! Lame!
Talked to TopShelf. Got to leave my pitch for Claire the Flare with them. Also my mom's comic pitch. Everyone there is so nice, if I could be printed by them someday I would be super happy.
Best thing for ME was talking to Dean Trippe, he was insanely nice, wonderfully encouraging and he was all gung-ho about my stuff. I wanted to cry he was so nice and he gave me a big hug. He gave me some even BETTER advice haha. I don't think at the moment I am going to get anyone interested in Claire, at least not till I have more stuff. So I think I will be going with what Dean suggested and making it a webcomic first, and when it's done pitch it places!
but the best BEST BEST thing about the con happened to my best friend Joy! She showed her stuff to DARKHORSE COMICS. DARKHORSE and the second highest editor there was super impressed and asked her to send in her stuff to him. HOLY SHIT!! Guys, seriously. I keep telling you she's gonna be famous so you NEED to add her as a friend on LJ and Deviantart if you have one, oh man and follow her on twitter too!

SO I was chatting with Dean Trippe at Baltimore Con (super nice super awesome super talented super encourging awesome artist man!) and he's like you should get a twitter! and I'm like "twitterrrr...." but he convinced me so I caved.

I wrote this somewhere else but I'm gonna write it here.
I have heard people say he had a really hard sad life. This is true, but lots of people have had a bad life. And they didn't rape anyone.
Ive heard people say that he is a great artist, this may be true, but there are a lot of artists who haven't raped anyone.
Ive heard people say he is old and should be left alone, but he is only now old and facing punishment because he ran away from punishment when he was younger.
He KNEW she was 13. And he admitted to what he did. And when a man in his 40s sleeps with a 13 year old girl, theres no other name for it but rape. Even if he hadnt drugged her and she hadnt said no. WHICH SHE DID.
Should rich and powerful people be able to get away with hurting others? My guts say no, but my head says that's how the world works. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna say its okay.

OH MAN SPX was so so great, I got to meet quite a few of you guys on my friends list, you are all even AWESOMER in person! (IM SORRY IF I WAS A SPAZ! I was so excited to meet you guys! Sorry If i talked to you at your tables too long! Sorry Ross, sorry Jess Fink! Sorry Josh PM and Nedroid!) I got SOOO many amazing comics (and sexy boy earings!), and I gave away ALL of my mini's and people were SO nice! SO NICE!! I got to talk to the editor of Top Shelf and he actually seemed impressed with my stuff a bit! He gave me his business card. In 2 weeks I'll get to see him again and give him a really kick ass pitch. I'm gonna make a picture post later showing all my kick ass stuff. AAAH Did you guys have fun? |
